Microsoft and General Electric have announced a recent partnership in which GE’s Industrial Internet platform will be made available on the Microsoft Azure cloud for enterprises. Through these technologies, companies around the world will be able to bridge the gap between the operational and information technologies that make up the Industrial Internet of Things.
Predix is an operating system and platform for building applications that connect to your industrial assets. The system collects and analyzes data and presents real-time metrics to optimize your industrial infrastructure and operations. Companies use Predix to manage and optimize all types of industrial assets, generating new levels of efficiency in their operations.
“Connecting industrial machines to the internet through cloud technologies is a giant step toward simplifying business processes and re-imagining the way we work,” said Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric. “GE is helping its customers extract value from the vast amounts of data available from their industrial assets and is building an ecosystem of market-leading business partners, such as Microsoft, that will enable the Industrial Internet of Things to expand on a global scale.”
Bringing Predix to Azure gives companies greater flexibility to capture the power of data from machines and intelligent systems. Microsoft’s cloud-based platform includes cutting-edge technologies such as Azure Cloud, Azure IoT Suite and Cortana Intelligence Suite.
