Microsoft and General Electric have announced a recent partnership in which GE’s Industrial Internet platform will be made available on the Microsoft Azure Enterprise Cloud. Through these technologies, companies around the world will be able to bridge the gap between the operational and information technologies that make up the Internet of Industrial Things.
Predix is an operating system and a platform for the construction of applications that connect with your industrial assets. The system collects and analyzes data and presents metrics in real time to optimize its industrial infrastructure and operations. Companies use Predix to manage and optimize all types of industrial assets, which generates new levels of efficiency in their operations.
“The connection of industrial machines to the Internet through cloud technologies is a giant step to simplify business processes and to re-imagine the way of working,” said Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric. “GE is helping its customers extract value from the vast amounts of data available from their industrial assets and is building an ecosystem of market-leading business partners, such as Microsoft, that will enable the Internet of Industrial Things to expand on a global scale.
Bringing Predix to Azure gives companies greater flexibility to capture the power of data from machines and intelligent systems. Microsoft’s cloud-based platform includes cutting-edge technologies such as Azure Cloud, Azure IoT Suite and Cortana Intelligence Suite.
